MY STORY & PHILOSOPHY
Archaeologists have speculated that potter is the world’s second oldest profession as it facilitated the cooking and gathering necessary to settle a home. Firing to increasingly higher temperatures was the advance that made pottery so durable it was an everyday part of life. You connect with this history when your morning coffee is consumed from a handmade mug, your lunchtime soup is heated in a potter's bowl, and evening ice cream is a treat eaten from a special vessel.
My connection to clay is both a desire to make these practical items and to enjoy the peaceful feel of centered clay. I first met this medium in high school and have pursued constant improvement in studios near my homes. Pandemic restriction drove me to the next step, my own studio. The result is the products promoted on this web site.
Stoneware is tough and demands to be used every day. It is food and dishwasher safe and can be used to heat food in the microwave or oven. Mugs kept in the freezer are perfect to keep drinks cold. Mugs and bowls can be heated in the oven when cheese is melted over soup.
